ECU's Soccer Skills Academy

Once a week, Emilio gets after-school soccer instruction from players on ECU's women's soccer team.  The object here is for Emilio to clear the playing area by kicking away everyone else's ball. He begins by snagging one from the coach. Then he shows his competitive streak when chasing a ball that didn't quite make it out after his first kick, playing a little bit rough, and then finishing with one of his patented dramatic slides.

Resisting the temptation to use your hands is a real challenge.
Emi keeps his ball in the square and is declared King.

One bit my Dad on the tongue

Emilio explains to Granddaddy that earlier this summer a wasp, presumably one who lived in the nest on the north side of our porch, bit his dad on the tongue when he took a swig from the opened can of Diet Mountain Dew that he was carrying out to the car.  The wasp, apparently, took an interest in the dark can's dark contents when the editor of this blog was not looking.

Family Ghost Night

We were told September 8th was Family Night at Emilio's new school, but when we got there, we didn't see a lot of families. As it turns out, "family night," meant "Buy a Book Night" in the school library. You can ask Mari to tell you about the disturbing sight she saw in Emilio's classroom.
