Rock and roll!

Emilio and I made the hour-trek to Norman on Friday night to hear a live performance by 1964, a Beatles tribute band. When we got to the ticket counter, the salesperson asked Emilio if he liked the Beatles. He would have left it as "yeah," but I asked him to list the Beatles British LPs in the order of their release to make the point, and he obliged. The salesperson was impressed.

The opening act went on a bit long, and the "Beatles" were late in arriving, but the concert was great. "John" told us that the group has been touring together for 26 years (140 shows a year now), and a week before they came to Norman, they made their tenth appearance at Carnegie Hall.

Emilio and I sat near the back of the auditorium, which was, in retrospect, a good thing, because 1964 resembles the Beatles musically a lot more than they do visually. That probably wasn't as true 26 years ago, but in anycase, I think they look better blurry now, both with regard to the live event and to the photos below.

I wrote down the songs in the order they played as they played them:

And then Emilio got restless and I stopped writing, which is understandable as it was way past his bedtime by then. Another parent might have gone home at halftime, and that may have been the wise move, but those of you who know that would have been almost impossible for me to bring myself to do. Anyway, we made it through and had a blast.
