Llego la abuela

Before flew into town on an Iberia jet this afternoon, Emilio hadn't seen his abuela since December 10th of last year. This visit will last until Saturday, November 24th. Jaime will come on the December 14th and Maria Rosa will follow him on the 15th and they will both stay with us until the 9th of January. We are very happy that they will be able to stay with us for so long.

Although the orginal plan called for me to take the family tiger for a trick-or-treat walk around the block to see what kind of candy he could scare up, at the moment of truth, the big cat insisted that he would rather hang out in our lair and have the block come to him. While waiting, he practiced the "Happy Halloween!" greeting he learned from the disembodied skulls on sale in the seasonal aisle at the local drugstore (where we make regular visits).

In the video below, the tiger distributes candy to: a) Girl in Trench Coat; b) Girl with Cat Whiskers; c) Annoying Boy Who Wants Skittles; and d) Annoying Boy Who Wants Skittles but Fears Imprisonment. After the last of this bunch leaves, the tiger makes a break for it.

Performing for Cousin Amy

When Cousin Amy came to visit, Emilio enjoyed showing her his Giraffe Yoga position and his duck walk. We served her a Chicago-style Dogzilla from Byron's (the biggest hot dog she'd ever seen) and took her to the park, where Emilio wore her name out. Later she showed us how to play the "Stop-Go" tickle game. We hope to see her and the rest of Findlay's finest again soon (in Chicago and on their own family blogsite!).

Free Ride

Emilio's first visit to the barber shop--Snippets on Diversey--was short and sweet. He chose to ride in the red car barber chair. We weren't ready to cut his prolific curls and the barber didn't charge us for cutting his bangs (we gave her a tip, though).

House Call

Glen, Renee, Bryce and Melanie drove up for the day from Indiana to meet Emilio for the first time and give him a doctor's kit and a musical caterpillar. We later had lunch at the Dixie Kitchen in Evanston.
